The Deliverables Problem

On AI, the vocational turn in higher education, and what liberal-arts education was always actually for. The institutional argument — that universities exist to produce employable graduates — generated a pedagogical one: that courses exist to produce portfolio-ready outputs. If you tell students that education is about producing things, a tool that produces those things without the intervening process of thought is not a threat to education. It is its fulfillment.
